Sri Sri Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Trust (AOL - SSIAST)
Situated at The Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, the Sri Sri Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Trust, AOL-SSIAST, is a national platform for natural and chemical-free farming. Guided by the vision of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the institute advances climate-resilient, low-input, and regenerative agricultural practices that restore soil health, strengthen farmer livelihoods, and heal the planet.

A Living Centre for Sustainable Agriculture
For over a decade and a half, AOL-SSIAST has been a flagship initiative of the Art of Living, working at the intersection of agriculture, ecology, and rural well-being. Inspired by the blessing “अन्नदाता सुखी भवः”, may the food giver be happy, the institute places farmers at the centre of national well-being.
Operating from The Art of Living International Centre in Bengaluru, AOL-SSIAST functions as a living classroom for learning, research, and collaboration. Its work integrates soil health, farmer confidence, indigenous knowledge, and long-term sustainability through nature-aligned agricultural practices.
What we do...
Natural Farming
AOL-SSIAST promotes Zero Budget Natural Farming rooted in indigenous cow-based inputs and locally available resources. Farmers reduce dependency on costly chemical inputs while improving soil fertility, biodiversity, and crop resilience. This approach restores living soil, lowers cultivation costs, and supports long-term income stability.
Model Farms
AOL-SSIAST has developed a network of model farms across diverse agro-climatic regions, including Bengaluru and Rewa. These farms demonstrate practical, scalable natural farming systems suited to different soil types and climatic conditions.
Farmer Training and Capacity Building
Farmers receive hands-on training through structured modules, demonstration farms, and trainer-led programmes conducted at the Bengaluru centre and across field locations. With over 2,300 certified trainers, knowledge flows continuously from soil to seed to society.
Mandala Vaatika
Mandala Vaatika is a sacred garden tradition rooted in Vedic science, sacred geometry, plant consciousness, and sound vibration. These gardens are designed to create harmonious spaces that support ecological balance and inner well-being.
Beekeeping
Beekeeping is promoted as a nature-based livelihood that complements chemical-free natural farming. It enhances pollination, improves crop yield and fruit quality, and strengthens biodiversity on farms.
Indigenous Seed Conservation
India’s food security lies in its indigenous seeds. Rashtriya Desi Beej Kosh, the national seed bank initiative of AOL-SSIAST, conserves and revives traditional seed varieties that are resilient, nutritious, and locally adapted.
Environment and Afforestation
Afforestation is a sacred responsibility at AOL-SSIAST.
